DIRECTOR-JEFF KENNES-is very excited to be returning to the Fringe Festival, and for the first time, in the capacity of a Director. Jeff is an aspiring director and actor. The majority of his work as a director comes from his experience as a director at the University of Toronto and as the founder of the SMC Troubadour. He is also an alumnus of the InspiraTO Director’s academy. His past credits as a director include: Digital Divide as the InspiraTO Festival (2018), Assassins (2017), The Crucible (2016), The Sculpture Gallery at the InspiraTO Festival (2016) Evita (2016), Fiddler on the Roof (2015), and Grease (2013). He would like to thank Josh Downing for writing this beautiful, tragic, and thought provoking story, the cast for their help in conveying it, and to Mara Ng for her support though the production process.
PLAYWRIGHT-JOSH DOWNING-Josh is a Toronto playwright/director originally from the West Coast where he studied in the Douglas College Theatre Program. His short plays have been in Gay Play Day, HamilTEN Festival and InspiraTO Festival. He has also directed several plays seen in Gay Play Day, HamilTEN Festival, InspiraTO Festival and New Ideas Festival. Excited to be one of the Director Leads for InspiraTO Director’s Toolbox this year. Josh is also producing his one act play, “the elephant circle” in Hamilton Fringe July 2018 with his production company The Hobby Horse.
JIM ABERNATHY-STEPHEN FLETT-Stephen is an award winning actor who has appeared in too many shows spanning far too many years. He studied at Queen’s University and in England. His frequent (22) Fringe forays include “God of Carnage”, “Lesson in Gabby”, “Shakespeare’s Rugby Wars”, “Pseudolus”, and “Weirder Thou Art”. Elsewhere: “Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me”, “Moonshine”, “Shining City”, “Big Maggie”, and “The Night Joe Dolan’s Car Broke Down” (Toronto Irish Players); “Into the Woods” (StageWorks); “Tarantara! Tarantara!”, “Gaslight”, “The Best Man” (Stage Centre); “Quiet Courage”, “Chorus of Approval”, and “Flea in her Ear” (Amicus). Recently: “See How They Run” (Stage Centre).
LOUISE DAVIS-CHANTEL MCDONALD-Chantel is an actor and playwright born and raised in Toronto. Select theatre credits include: narrating a staged reading of Trey Anthony’s Black Mother’s Don’t Say I Love You (retitled) for bcurrent’s Rock.Paper.Sistahz festival, Agnes in Orphaned Egret’s production of She Kills Monsters, and Tracey in Bob Del Rio’s Professionally Ethnic at Summerworks 2017. Now Magazine named Professionally Ethnic one of the outstanding ensembles of the season. She has also appeared in Kazik Radwanski’s feature film Tower, Chris Power’s Bloodslinger and Kyisha Williams and Lindsey Addawoo’s short, Queen of Hearts which premiered at this year’s Inside Out film festival.
DANNY DAVIS-ADRIAN LECKIE-Adrian has performed in plays such as "Dreamgirls" and "The Lost King” through Vanessa Jev Productions. He has run a Youth Drama Program for the Crescent Town Community Centre for 4 years as a Program Facilitator. He has also done public speaking in the group "Toastmasters", and has competed in two district competitions with his award-winning speeches "My Bare Truth" and "My Journey Outside of The Comfort Zone". Adrian studies at the University of Toronto in a Masters of Education in Adult Education and Community Development, with a focus on arts-based education for racialized students.
STAGE MANAGER-MARA NG-Mara is currently finishing her English & Classical Civilizations degree at the University of Toronto. Outside of classes, Mara also enjoys working behind the scenes in stage management, production, and design for live theatre on and off campus. Recently, she has worked on shows at the university (Hairspray, The Crucible, A Funny Thing Happened at the Forum) and at Hart House Theatre (7 Stories, Festival of Dance). She has worked in Fringe previously as an ASM for Post No Bills and is thrilled to be part of another festival show this summer.
